In her new paintings, Helena Parada Kim explores botanical and textile entanglements within dense, lush pictorial spaces. Between foliage, ornament, and drapery, her compositions evoke the sensation of becoming immersed within tangled structures. The works develop an almost sculptural presence while remaining atmospheric and abstract. In her new robe paintings, Parada Kim continues her exploration of identity, tradition, and cultural layering. Korean garments intertwine with art historical references and motifs from East Asian painting, overlaid with echoes of European visual traditions. The exhibition title Entangled refers both to organic structures and to the interweaving of cultures, visual languages, and historical references.
